The Nigeria Customs Service, Murtala Muhammed Area Command (MMAC), has announced significant operational milestones for the period spanning January to November 2025, including the attainment of its 2025 revenue target and major breakthroughs in anti-smuggling operations.
Comptroller Michael Awe, the Customs Area Controller revealed this during a media briefing held on Wednesday, 26 November 2025, in Ikeja, Lagos, stressing that the Command remained unwavering in its mandate of revenue generation, trade facilitation, and suppression of smuggling.
Giving details, Comptroller Awe disclosed that the Command generated ₦179.91 billion between January and November 2025, an improvement over the ₦164.82 billion collected within the same period in 2024 representing a 9.16% growth, translating to an increase of ₦15.09 billion.
By this fest, the Command has achieved 100.1% of its 2025 annual revenue target, describing the performance as a reflection of enhanced operational efficiency.
“This impressive performance reflects our unwavering commitment to efficiency, transparency, and accountability”, he said.
“Enhanced trader compliance, timely monitoring of import transactions, swift detection of irregularities, and deliberate efforts to block revenue leakages were instrumental to our success.”
He also commended compliant traders and clearing agents for their cooperation.
Reeling out achievements in enforcement, Comptroller Awe said the Command intensified its anti-smuggling operations, leading to multiple seizures of prohibited items with a combined Duty Paid Value (DPV) of ₦7.201 billion.
Items intercepted during the period include; 75 packs of pangolin scales, 1 pack of elephant tusk, 3 packs of Colorado CAT leaf, Canadian cannabis sativa, Tramadol and Pregabalin tablets, unregistered pharmaceuticals, Two-way radio communication devices, A semi-automatic paintball marker gun, 523 pieces of signed Deutsche Bank and AIB bank cheques, and Nigeria Immigration Service uniform materials.
“The Command was able to achieve this feat through robust intelligence gathering, strengthened surveillance efforts as well as effective collaboration with relevant partners.
