The Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa has applauded the Nigerian-born athlete Jovan Olafioye who has been officially inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame, Class of 2025, an accomplishment that the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) is proud to celebrate.

In a statement issued by Gabriel Odu,

Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit of NIDCOM, Dabiri-Erewa stated that Olafioye had a fantastic career that lasted almost ten years after making his mark in the Canadian Football League (CFL).

During his eight seasons with the BC Lions, Olofioye won a Grey Cup championship in 2011, several All-Star selections, and the coveted Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman award in 2012. He was one of the most admired athletes in the league because of his dependability and offensive line leadership.

“This honor is a source of pride for Nigeria and the Nigerian community worldwide, in addition to being a significant personal accomplishment for Olafioye.

His induction serves as a testament to the Nigerian diaspora’s expanding influence in a variety of fields, most notably international sports” Dabiri-Erewa stated.

The NIDCOM Boss stated further that Olafioye’s accomplishment further demonstrates the ability, tenacity, and resolve of Nigerians making waves around the globe. His story will inspire young Nigerians and aspiring athletes both domestically and overseas by demonstrating that hard work and perseverance can result in recognition at the top levels of professional sports.
